“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”

-Henry David Thoreau, Walden

We built the front door of our cabin and finally have it fitted and hinged! What a beauty! First-time door builder is one happy camper!

Our Heavy Pine Lumber Cabin Door

Having never built I door before, I felt intimidated by it all. Once I started the placing the boards together and started cutting other parts of it, I soon realized that this might not have been as daunting a task as I had thought it would be.

We can only guess how much the door weighs, and that being somewhere between 150-200 pounds. It took the both of us to lift and load the door into the bed of the truck.

We were able to move the door into position. Gabriel lifted his end and we set the door inside the frame. We needed to do just a little trimming for a good fit.

Our adjustments we made and we attempted to set the door in the frame again.
