SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1903
This original Springfield 1903 was made in 1914 just before America entered The Great War. This fascinating piece of history still has the original barrel dated 12-14. The metal was parkerized and the wood was refinished when it was rearsenaled for WWII . There is no pitting on the metal surfaces, and the only rust I am seeing is a speck or two on the butt plate. The bore shows browning, but the rifling is strong and there is no evidence of major pitting. This rifle would make a fine addition to any WWI collection, or a great shooter with lighter loads.
