The Daniel Defense DD4 RIII is an AR-15 rifle designed from the ground up to be fully ambidextrous. The lower receiver features fully ambidextrous controls including the safety selector, bolt release, and magazine release to accommodate left handed shooters or more dynamic scenarios where switching shoulders is common. The ambi features extend to the upper receiver with the Grip-N-Rip charging handle and integrated QD sling swivel slots on both sides of the rifle in the stock and handguard. While still maintaining the Daniel Defense philosophy of uncompromised reliability and durability, this 5.56 AR-15 rifle features 7075-T6 aluminum receivers and their legendary barrels made from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium barrels that are cold hammer forged, Chrome lined, and Manganese Phosphate coated. This 16" 5.56 barrel also features a 1:7 twist rate with a mid-length gas system and is magnetic particle inspected as well as high pressure tested. The bolt carrier group also features internal Chrome lining, an M16 profile, Phosphate coating, and is magnetic particle inspected as well. Helping improve the reliability, the mid-length gas system is paired with a slightly heavier H buffer for increased dwell time and slower bolt speed and is housed in a 7075-T6 receiver extension. The RIS III handguard features the same durability as the previous RIS II quadrail model but ditches the picatinny rails for the more modular and lighter weight M-LOK mounting standard while still allowing the attachment of M203 grenade launchers that the RIS II is known for.
