Modeled after the hugely popular X-Bolt Speed, the Speed SR comes from the factory with a barrel that's 4 inch shorter than normal for the caliber. The reduced barrel length keeps overall length low, even when using the included radial port muzzle brake or a suppressor of your choosing. Like all X-Bolt Series Rifles, the X-Bolt Speed SR starts with a steel receiver that is glass bedded within the stock. Glass bedding is a time-consuming process, but it's worth it because it creates an exact match between the action and stock-and because it free-floats the barrel. Free-floated barrels are inherently more accurate because they are allowed to vibrate, flex and move freely within the stock, WITHOUT interference from contact points. The muzzle is threaded 5/8x24 to accept your own suppressor. Not ready for a suppressor? A radial-style muzzle brake and thread protector are included and, with the shorter overall length of the rifle, turn it into a formidable brush gun. The Cerakote Smoked Bronze finish is applied to the action and barrel and offers metal protection that is better than traditional bluing or stainless steel.
